Future General Meetings | Past General Meetings (2008-2009 meeting announcements and links to presentation slides, when available) Join Our New CPCUG General Meeting Team! However, to get this part of CPCUG thriving again, I am going to need your help. We are looking for topics, speakers, and whatever other suggestions you have that will enhance our presentations and make them worthwhile for our members to attend. The meeting agenda we will normally follow will be something like this--
One of the suggestions that came out of CPCUG Planning Committee discussions was to advertise our General Meetings and invite the public to attend. We plan to advertise in the local Gazette and are leveraging our partnership with Montgomery Community Television to broadcast several 30-second spot announcements about our General Meetings. Putting together these meetings, arranging for presentations, creating advertising content for print and video, and shooting TV commercials is work for a team, not a lone volunteer. Feel free to pitch in--become part of the new CPCUG General Meeting Team. If you have ideas for programs, can take on a small task, and/or have other suggestions regarding future General Meetings, send me an e-mail message at DennisC@cpcug.net. You don't have to be experienced to make a valuable contribution--just willing. Let's make 2009 a resurgent year for CPCUG. 2:30 pm, Main Presentation. Q&A Main Presentation: At one time or another we have all been puzzled or even dismayed by some aspect of technology. A case in point, do you know for sure that your TV picture will not disappear when the broadcast stations change from analog to digital transmissions on February 17, 2009? Including that little TV you have in your kitchen or workshop? If you don't know or have questions, speaker DeeNice Rhodes will calmly explain, in plain English, what is about to happen and how to make sure you are prepared, without wasting money on equipment or services you don't need. Speaker: Denise "DeeNice” Rhodes has been working in the medical and IT industries for more than 15 years. Engaged in business development and territory sales management, she has worked to create, develop, and implement strategic plans for companies such as Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, and various pharmaceutical companies. During that time she has consistently exceeded sales objectives, boosting revenue and profit growth for major fortune 500 companies. DeeNice’s nickname, The Digital Dynamo™, is also the name of her company. In 1997 her deep-rooted commitment to the urban community prompted her to create and launch The Urban Progressive Foundation (TUPF), part of a Congressional District Programming Inc. 501(c)(3) public charity. The foundation’s purpose is to educate, train, inform, and create hands-on programs/events that enhance lives. Through community and technology education and development, TUPF helps underserved communities, such as senior/elderly, youth, disabled, low-income, and rural individuals. These underserved groups become engaged in technology through educational programs that support and promote personal interest in their communities. Currently, DeeNice Rhodes' main objective is to facilitate the 2009 transition to digital television. She is a speaker/trainer spreading the word about the transition through her membership in the Capital PC User Group and her work with many other organizations. Her passion is to help as many as possible get “connected.” Saturday, June 28, 2008, 1:00-3:30 pm Location: Rockville Library, first floor large meeting room 21 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD (directions and map) Parking: Free lot across the street Cost: Free and open to all
